What is a doula?

The origin of the word doula is from Modern Greek meaning "female servant".

Simply defined, a doula is a non-medical professional who provides support and assistance to individuals and families during labor and after childbirth.

Supporting families from

Pregnancy, Birth, and Beyond

Congratulations on your growing family! I am so excited for your interest in doula services. Every expectant parent can benefit from having the right doula by their side.

Growing your family is an exciting time filled with numerous changes and countless questions. Whether it's the start of your family or an expansion of it, having a doula can help you to establish and achieve the vision you have for bringing your baby earthside.

Hello, my name is Amanda Reynolds. I am a birth & postpartum doula, serving the Raleigh/Durham/Fayetteville area of North Carolina both in-person and virtually.  I offer birth and postpartum support, placenta encapsulation, and belly casting.

For me, being a doula is about having a servant's heart, and offering my judgement-free hands to hold, physically and/or metaphorically, through some of the most transformative moments of your life. It will be an honor, and privilege, to walk with you through this incredible journey.

As your birth doula, I believe you deserve to have the support and confidence that a well-built birth team provides. Doctors, midwives, and nurses are a vital aspect to that team, however, they have other patients to tend to. This is where I come in, and stay with you, until you meet your baby.  Through the duration of your labor and delivery, you are my one and only priority. I look forward to being a part of your wonderful birth team.
